Internet Marketing tool: Scroogle

by jai on March 7, 2011

Internet marketing is getting smarter and smarter everyday as the search algorithms constantly change. This may or may not be something you already know about, but John Schwartz showed this to me it was worth passing on because it can save you some head scratching if you follow your Google rankings closely.  You see, Google increasingly tracks what you do when you’re on their site running searches.

Did you know that?  Kind of creepy.  Over time, they tailor the results
that show up on the 1st page of search results to what you’ve shown a habit of clicking on.

In other words, my Top 10 results for the same search phrase that
you use will not match your Top 10 results.  More importantly, if
you often run a search for your main keywords to see where your site ranks – and if you then click your site’s link in the search results – Google sees that and will start to put your site in the Top 10 results more often.

This can become downright maddening for those of us who are marketers
and want to reproduce the same Top 10 that the random Google searcher
will see for our keywords.

Fortunately, there’s a simple solution for your Internet Marketing needs.  It’s called Scroogle.  I like the funny play on the Google name.  It’s actually meant to combine the words ‘scrape’ and ‘Google’ – but you can use your imagination for the not-so-subtle alternate interpretation.  Heh.

You don’t need to know how Scroogle works.  You just need to know that searching at Scroogle will show you “pure” results instead of the individually customized results that you’ll get over time if you use Google for the same searches.
I hope this helps!  The URL is
100% free to use.

Another tool to your Internet Marketing arsenal.
