Keyword Selection Tips – Quantity and Quality in Keyword Selection

Quantity is not quality in KW volume. In most cases the more the search volume for the k/w the lesser the quality of keyword. I think actual buyer traffic in the internet is less than 1%, only these traffic can make you real money and get you conversions.

Always drill down to the most possible level and target low volume, high quality, targeted buyer keyword. You can make more money even with less traffic. The conversion is higher for long tail keywords than root info keywords.

How to make your ads helpful:

Most of high volume keywords are root keywords and they are information seekers, its difficult to target those info seeking keywords with products/ads. If you promote affiliate products and show adsense ads for info seekers, it may make those visitors run away (bounce) from your site because you are advertising to people who dont want to see ads (irrelevant ads). on the other case if you show products/ads for buyers, they find that very useful and timely (relevant ads!) .

Example: all the three keywords given below have high competetion, high CPC, but

“hostgator coupon codes” can make you more money/conversion than ”web hosting coupons” which can convert better than  ”web hosting”. The better you target (drill down) better your conversions and adsense CPC.

If it could not be implemented at domain level, try at least in page level and stick to proper keyword selection for every single page.
